End of the year camp out

It was time to celebrate a school year full of literacy.  What would be more fun than a reading camp out?  I had a brief moment of panic when I began to think how I was going to find a tent large enough to fit the whole class in.  Then I realized, why buy when you can create!  You know I love a "make it work" moment.  First I tried a parachute, then a couple bed sheets, finally I decided to glue a few large sheets of yellow butcher block paper together.  It held up perfectly over the classroom story corner.  The kids were so excited to see this large tent when they arrived on camp out day.  Every student shared a book by choice of reading, or retelling.  I think this will be a day we all remember, and happy to say, reading was a huge part of it.  Can't wait to keep sharing with you cousin!
